The LWE Spain Retreat: New Bonds, Rich History, Fun Times

This last week, Socialfix founding partner, Terry Tateossian attended this year’s Leading Women’s Entrepreneurs (LWE) retreat. This year’s destination? Spain! This trip offered an incredible chance to meet other business owners and forge new bonds, expand company horizons, and of course have fun in beautiful Spain!

Spain was the perfect choice to match the theme of the retreat which was the “Art of Business and Adventure.” After all, Spain is a country rich with fascinating history dating back centuries. The attendees took in the country’s culture with a flamenco show, tours of Gibraltar and Malaga, a winery tour and tasting, and more. These experiences allowed everyone to see a vibrant and thriving country with many potential business opportunities.

Throughout Spain’s history, female entrepreneurs have had to face numerous societal barriers in order to prove themselves and their abilities. Spain’s patriarchal society has changed significantly in the last decade, and especially in the last several years. Spain faced an economic crisis, and the unemployment rate reached an all-time high at 20%. Fed up with low wages, many women started businesses of their own. Due to this, the number of companies created by Spanish women has almost doubled in the last years, to just below 40%.

Spain has survived their economic downfall and is now back on the path to success as their economy is growing again. This turn of events has many Spanish citizens feeling confident and optimistic about the future, which Terry and the rest of the LWE group got to experience firsthand.

Nowadays, it has become increasingly common to see women in leadership positions in companies. This influx of women in business has gone a long way in proving that women are vital to the future of Spain’s economic recovery. This presented a wonderful opportunity for the women in this retreat to form powerful connections.

This year’s LWE Retreat was certainly an incredible experience. Not only were the women fortunate enough to plant the seeds for future collaborations with new partners in Spain, they were also able to spend time bonding and talking business with each other. This trip provided the opportunity to those who attended to network and develop relationships with other strong female entrepreneurs. The relationships formed in Spain have the potential to unite individual visions and bring all those who participate to new professional heights.

We’re Back At It Again with NYC SHRM!

2019 marks the second year that Socialfix Media has partnered with NYC SHRM, (New York City Society for Human Resource Management) for New York City’s leading, one-day Human Resource conference. NYC SHRM’s mission is to connect professional human resource practitioners, businesses, educators and students through networking events, educational seminars and programs throughout the year. The Annual NYC SHRM Conference is one of the most anticipated and sought after events hosted by the organization.

The conference consisted of six breakout sessions, broken up by three keynote speakers. Topics covered a variety of subjects trending in HR such as recruiting in the age of Google, the “Modern Elder” movement, and overcoming unconscious bias in the workplace. The conference once again ended with a networking cocktail reception that punctuated the day with a friendly gathering of HR professionals in all varying degrees of their field.

As media sponsors we exhibited in the HR Solutions Gallery and hosted a social media lounge, where attendees took photos and posted them to social media. Throughout the day of the conference we captured conference attendees, exhibitors, panelists and speakers on camera to document the conference and string together an event video to use to promote future conferences.

An Afternoon of High Tea with the State Theatre of New Jersey

Socialfix joined community leaders and friends for the 3rd annual Women’s Tea fundraising event hosted by The State Theatre of New Jersey. This year’s program featured a networking reception, followed by high tea and performance from Pianist Min Kwon, who was accompanied by her student, Enriqueta Somarriba. After the performance we sat down with Min and Enriqueta to discuss the important role that the arts have played in their lives, with perspectives ranging from being a student, educator and performer. Proceeds from the event benefit underserved individuals each year – including students from low-income schools, veterans, seniors and others.

This year marks Socialfix’s 2nd year in attendance as media sponsors for the event, where we captured interviews with committee members and attendees to hear their take on why its important to support the arts and work with other women business leaders to promote fundraising events to benefit the community. During the performance from Pianist Min Kwon, we captured her performances and discussion about the importance and influence the arts has on fostering strong communities.

This year the event raised more than $40,000 to support the community arts access initiatives and we are working on a promotional video to encourage more community leaders to get involved next year.

NAPTE 2019: Content Creation’s Future Impact

The National Association of Television Program Executives, or NAPTE is the quintessential member organization for content producers, distributors and buyers across all platforms. For more than 50 years, the organization has been bringing together members and content producers to influence the future of the content industry. For the first time, Socialfix attended NAPTE’s annual conference in Miami alongside thousands of industry influencers, executives, producers and advertisers.

This year’s conference focused on content creation’s future impact and confronted topics such as challenges that linear programming is facing in a fast-changing TV landscape, as well as sessions with an international focus and multiple showcases featuring top brands utilizing new advertising strategies to boost revenue.

Some of the highlights from this years programming included panels, “How Wall St. Watches Television” and “Hollywood Dealmakers” where audiences engage with a panel of industry leaders. Also featured was a one-on-one talks about the future of distribution from Distribution President of Twentieth Century Fox Television, Mark Kanar and President of Turner International, Gerhard Zeiler. All programming offered industry insights what was in store for the future of content, and how they were working more collaboratively with all facets of content production and distribution.

Ultimately, the conference focused on the value of storytelling, and how to engage audiences with compelling content that harnesses the new distribution channels. As content creation plays a more crucial role in an ever increasing digital world we live in today, gathering at NAPTE provides the industry insight we need as an agency to stay competitive with larger content producers across the country.

Socialfix Turns 14 Years Old!

Socialfix turned 14 years old this year! That means 14 years of delivering transformative results, making meaningful connections, boosting ROI and breaking barriers for our clients. The past 14 years is only the beginning of what Socialfix has to offer, and we’re happy to reach this milestone and reflect on how we got here and what’s in store for the years to come.

As an independently-grown marketing and technology agency, we’ve formulated our secret recipe for growth. It comes down to intuition and attention to the changing technological landscape of our time. 14 years ago, our agency was helping clients with primarily search engine marketing, but the internet evolved and so we moved with it. Now we have grown into a full-service agency, offering our clients a master suite of marketing tools and strategies.

We always remind ourselves where we came from, especially when we are planning our future. At our core we are a forward and future-facing agency. This is why we want to recognize the beginning of a new year and the excitement of a birthday celebration that embraces endless possibilities for growth and change. We hope that our partners and clients will be able to join us in celebrating all that we have accomplished and jump in for the next year.

Raise a glass to the past 14 years, and all the possibilities that are in store!
